President Nana Akufo-Addo has appointed Sulley Sambian as the new acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Northern Development Authority (NDA).

His appointment follows the resignation of acting NDA boss Sumaila Abdul Rahaman who is standing trial at the Tamale High Court over alleged procurement breaches.

Mr. Sambian’s new role was contained in a letter dated March 3, 2023, and signed by the Chief of Staff, Akosua Frema Osei-Opare.

“I am pleased to inform you that H.E. the President has appointed you to act as Chief Executive Officer of the Northern Development Authority pending receipt of the constitutionally required advice of the governing board given in consultation with the Public Services Commission.

“Kindly indicate your acceptance or otherwise of this appointment within 14 days upon receipt of this letter,” as directed in the letter.

The new appointee is currently the regional secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the North East Region. He is also a managing partner at Sambian and Co, a private law firm.

He was called to the Bar in Ghana in 2003. He previously worked with Akufo-Addo, Prempeh and Co, a law firm in Accra, and with George Sarpong Legal Services in Kumasi.

Lawyer Sambian has nearly two decades of experience at the Bar in Ghana. His areas of specialization include commercial law and property law.
