Personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service(GNFS) have rescued a man who had suicidal tendencies from a height at Afrancho in the Ashanti Region.
According to GNFS, the officers arrived on time to save the middle-aged “mentally unstable” man on Saturday, December 17.
He climbed the rooftop of the Afrancho Nfantoame Christ Upper Room Church in the Afigya Kwabre South District in an attempt to commit suicide.
The distress call for rescue came in at 1127 hours on Saturday after some residents attempted but failed to rescue him.
They rescued him by means of a Turn-Table Ladder (TL) and rescue lines after some persuasion.
“Eyewitnesses say the man who was intent on committing suicide, climbed to the outer rooftop of the Church in the early hours of Saturday morning until he was eventually rescued at 1458 hours by the Rescue Team led by DO III Prosper S. Avevor, from the Breman District Fire Command,” a statement from GNFS said.
Meanwhile, the rescued man is now in police custody assisting with the investigation.
