Sudan will open up and come at Ghana in Libya – Laryea Kingston
Laryea Kingston has cautioned Ghana head coach Otto Addo to be wary of Sudan in the reverse fixture of their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Libya on Tuesday.
Following the reserved game plan Sudan employed at the Accra Sports Stadium in the first leg, the former Ghana international believes Kwesi Appiah’s team will come out firing in the rematch.
The match will take place at the Martyrs of February Stadium in Benghazi.
“I know very well that if I’m a coach going into the next leg of the game, especially on the opponent’s home ground, and considering the way they played against me—being careful, managing the game very well by sitting back and then sometimes putting two or three passes together,” he told Joy Sports. “That should automatically tell me that when I play against them at their home ground, they’re going to change their style and come at me.
“So for me, going into that game, I think we don’t have to sit back. When we sit back and wait for them, like we do when we apply mid-pressure, they start to get close to our box and cause us problems. Trust me, I guarantee you, panic will set in.”
The draw in the first leg gives Sudan four points in Group F, two ahead of Ghana, who remain third and are in danger of missing out on the AFCON for the first time in 20 years.
