Submit unedited investigative video to court – Charles Bissue to OSP
Former Secretary to the defunct Inter-Ministerial Committee on Illegal Mining (IMCIM), Charles Bissue, has responded to the writ filed against him and Andy Thomas Owusu by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP).
The suit comes after the OSP cited a series of alleged corruption and misuse of public office for profit against the duo.
In a statement released on Tuesday, April 29, Bissue confirmed that the OSP had indeed initiated legal proceedings related to the controversial Galamsey Fraud documentary published by investigative outfit Tiger Eye P.I. in 2019.
In the statement, Charles Bissue charged the OSP to present a complete, unedited, and unaltered version of the investigative video forming the basis of the prosecution to the court.
He justified that providing the unedited video to the court is crucial to ensure that the truth is fully revealed, without distortion.
He also debunked all the allegations cited against him by the OSP.
Charles Bissue asked the OSP to submit “a complete, unedited, and unaltered version of the video documentary referenced in these proceedings”.
“Ghanaians deserve access to the unvarnished truth and factual evidence, free from distortion or misdirection by external narratives or selective interpretations,” he added.
“For the record, I categorically assert that I have always acted in full compliance with both the legal and ethical obligations of the office I held and the laws of the Republic of Ghana. Any suggestion of misconduct is baseless and will be vigorously challenged through due process.
“I welcome the OSP’s decision to proceed with this case after more than five years of deliberation,” he stated.
He ended by expressing confidence in the judiciary, saying he believes the matter will be resolved impartially and conclusively.
