Students collapse as fire ravages Kadjebi-Asato SHS boys’ dormitory
A fire broke out on Tuesday morning, December 2, 2025, in one of the boys’ dormitories at Kadjebi-Asato Senior High School in the Oti Region, destroying a room and leaving several students exhausted as they tried to salvage their belongings.
The blaze reportedly started around 9 a.m., consuming all items in the room and damaging the roofing structure.
By the time the fire was brought under control, nothing inside the affected room could be saved.
The Ghana National Fire Service faced challenges in responding, as the fire tender in the Kadjebi district was out of service, forcing personnel to rely on limited alternative methods.
The incident caused panic among students, with dozens collapsing from fatigue and anxiety while attempting to control the fire and evacuate nearby rooms.
School authorities and community members quickly intervened to assist the affected students, who have since received care.
