Stop raising sycophants – Lydia Forson tells parents
Outspoken actress, Lydia Forson has urged parents to desist from raising their children to be timid and afraid to speak truth to power.
The actress says parents do their children a great disservice when they teach them to always respect authority and everyone more than they respect themselves.
“Your children are suffering abuse quietly, because you’re raising them to respect authority and everyone more than they respect themselves”
Lydia’s frustration comes on the back of the popular Ghanaian phrase “Fa ma nyame”, to wit “vengeance is of the lord” attitude that has let a lot of wrongdoers off the hook.
According to her, children raised like that end up becoming sycophants and suffer abuse in silence.
“You’ve taught them to be quiet because it’s more polite and “attractive” than to speak up/against people, even when they’re right.”
She says that attitude “only give(s) people leeway to bully you, you’re making it ok for them to continue to do it (to) others.”

Let me breakdown how dangerous the “fa ma nyame” attitude is; by giving people leeway to bully you, you’re making it ok for them to continue to do it others.
In the end, someone, who’s maybe not as strong as you are, will suffer the consequences of your inaction.
