Stop Faking, Be Yourself – Empress Gifty
Gospel songstress, Empress Gifty, has admonished young Ghanaian musicians to be true to themselves rather than trying so hard to imitate the top artistes they idolise.
In an interview, she said artistes being themselves would allow them to be the best and most authentic version of themselves to their music audience than trying to sound like another artiste.
According to her, being one’s self helps create a unique brand.
“They should put out pride, the pride is too much…Be yourself. When you are yourself, no one can overtake you. It’d be hard to imitate me, Empress. I’ll still be the original. So be the original of yourself, stop faking… be you,” she indicated.
“Just know what God has given you and perfect it. Every five years, there is a change in the system. You must be yourself, you must only adopt one or two things in the system, add it to what you have and then you move on,” she added.
“Look for somebody and serve the person. It’s so hard in this generation to see someone serving another. If you don’t serve, no one will serve you. You’ll be stranded and roam a lot. The era has changed and by God’s grace, the keys to success are with some of us.
“New artistes should calm down and learn else you won’t get to where I am,” she concluded.
Empress Gifty is currently one of Ghana’s most relevant gospel artistes. She recently released ‘Awieye Pa’ (Good Ending), which is enjoying great attention in the music space.
