Stop blaming one another, fix the mess – Political parties told
Comrade Samuel Bamidele Ojo, National Secretary for Youth Affairs at the Ghana United Nations Association (GUNA), has blamed political parties for all the ‘woes’ in the country.
He believes political parties have a mandate to preserve the interests of the country when they come into power, but they seek satisfaction in blaming each other for the mess in the country.
In an interview with The Ghana Report, Comrade Bamidele Ojo stressed that blaming one another for a particular problem or project has become a canker in Ghanaian politics.
“Those in authority, most of the time, shirk their responsibilities while blaming each other for the mess,” he noted.
“This attitude, which has become a constant practice, dampens the spirit of democracy and fair play. It is important for political parties to realize and accept that at the end of the day, it is the citizens who suffer from their bickering, ” he added.
Comrade Bamidele Ojo reiterated the need to stop the blame game and remain focused on fulfilling the campaign promises made to the electorates.
He, however mentioned that, even in opposition, leaders of the opposition party can still go ahead with the developmental projects or campaign promises that they failed to complete while in power.
“Must we always be in power before we do the right thing,” he quizzed.
He believes doing this, will rather convince the people that you are interested in their general development, adding that it may even increase their chances of winning.
