Ghanaian Afropop musician Livingstone Etse Satekla, popularly known as Stonebwoy, has dragged entertainment critic and aspiring politician Sadiq Abdulai Abu, aka Baba Sadiq, to court over remarks the politician made on his X (previously known as Twitter).
In a writ filed at the High Court on May 31, 2024, the newly crowned Artist of the Year is asking the court to order Baba Sadiq to delete and render an unqualified apology to him for posting derogatory tweets about him.
In addition, Stonebwoy is requesting that the court provide him GHS 3 million in damages for the injury that the tweets have done to his reputation.
According to Stonebwoy, Baba Sadiq deliberately published untruths to defame him.
For a section of the public who are aware of the circumstances behind the tweets, the lawsuit comes to them as no surprise after Sadiq’s unsettling remarks—which implied that Stonebwoy is a violent abuser of women.
