Stephen Ntim appointed Board Chairman of NPA

The National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Stephen Ayesu Ntim has been appointed as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA).

The Minister of Energy, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh swore Mr Stephen Ntim into office on Tuesday, May 21, 2024.

In a post on Facebook, the Energy Minister expressed confidence in Mr Ntim’s leadership capabilities.

“National Chairman of my beloved New Patriotic Party, Mr. Ntim is not new to leadership and therefore, I have no doubt that he has what it takes to steer the NPA to achieve its objectives for the benefit of all Ghanaians.

“I charged the new chairman of the downstream regulator to focus on key priorities; strengthening regulatory frameworks, enhancing operational efficiencies, and ensuring that the NPA operates with the highest standards of integrity and accountability,” Mr Prempeh said.

The new Board chairman takes over from Joe Addo-Yobo who served as NPA board chairman since 2017.

Mr Ntim was elected as the chairman of the NPP in 2022.

Mr Ntim was a member of the Danquah-Busia Club which transformed into the New Patriotic Party in 1992.

As an NPP veteran, he has served the party in various capacities.

Between 2001 and 2005, he served as the National First Vice-Chairman of the party and then contested four times for the chairmanship position without success

However, he won on his fifth attempt at contesting for the position.

Mr Ntim was a also Board Member of the Electricity Company of Ghana from 2007 to 2009.

He is a product of the University of Ghana and the University of Minnesota, USA, from where he holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in French and Linguistics and an MBA in Management Information Systems respectively.

He has over 20 years of experience as a Systems Engineer in both the USA and Ghana.

He has served and has vast experience in several executive and corporate positions.
