‘Stay safe during Eid’-Akufo-Addo, Mahama, Bawumia to Moslems
As coronavirus keeps millions of Moslems, across the world including Ghana, from congregating to offer prayers and celebrate the day, some Ghanaian leaders have sent congratulatory messages to the Islamic community for successfully completing the Radaman.
President Nana Akufo-Addo, Vice-President Alhaji Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, and former President John Mahama have wished the Islamic faithful well for their 30-day sacrifice as they abstained from food, water, sex, smoking and other pleasures to observe one of Islam’s five pillars.
With the government’s social gathering ban restricting mass assemblies, the leaders took to social media to mark the day and wish the country’s Moslems a happy Eid ul-Fitr.
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, acknowledged the challenges of the pandemic, which compelled adherents of the Islamic faith to abandon age-old traditions during Ramadan.
But the President was hopeful that next year, “Moslems will congregate, as they have done over the years and celebrate Eid ul-Fitr fully and without any restrictions.”
