St. Augustine’s College to be used as coronavrius isolation center; but staff are unhappy
Some staff of the St. Augustine’s College in the Central Region are unhappy about the decision to use the school as an isolation center for coronavirus.
According to them, they still live on campus and cannot share the facility with persons who have been isolated and would be tested for the virus.
The decision to convert some of the school’s dormitories to host persons on isolation came after the region recorded its first case of COVID-19 on April 7, 2020.
Theghanareport.com monitored a JoyNews report that health authorities have already visited the school to prepare it for its new purpose.
But some staff of the school are uncomfortable with the decision.
The staff fear that they could come into contact with “a dangerous disease” as they live on campus with their relatives.
“They are questioning why this particular school was chosen. They suggest that at best, they could have chosen a day school where there would be no teachers on campus,” the reporter said.
The Central Region joined six others to become the 7th in Ghana to have confirmed a positive case.
The Ghana Health Service’s regular updates indicated that the patient was identified and tested positive as a result of the ongoing enhanced contact tracing exercise.
