The Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT), has been awarded Company of the Year for Public Sector at the 2019 Ghana Business Awards held at the Kempinski Hotel in Accra on Friday, October 25 2019.
“The Trust has leveraged technology, to provide multi-channel service delivery points. Aside from our 51 branches where we offer services to all our stakeholders, we have a Contact Centre that engages our Members and Clients daily receiving tons of calls and emails from you.
Interestingly, the fastest growing points of engagement is on our digital media platforms. We have some 250,000 followers on Facebook alone and reach someone million Members and Clients monthly. All these innovations are aimed at building a service centered Trust where the Member is the focus of the business,” the Director-General of SSNIT, Dr John Ofori–Tenkorang disclosed after the Awards Ceremony.
He said SSNIT had worked hard to reduce the benefits processing time from 2 months to 17 days as at August 2019. Adding that, Old Age Lump Sum and Survivors’ Lump Sum benefits were even processed even faster, that is, 10 and 8 days respectively.
He added, “We recognize that there should be a seamless transition from being an active worker to becoming a retiree. To the extent that Members check their records with us, and everything deemed as correct before they retire, they should receive their pension the following month.”
He dedicated the award to the Board of Trustees, Management and Staff of the Trust for their commitment and hard work to the efficient management of the SSNIT Scheme.
The Award is to reward businesses that have played a defining role in moving their industry forward and have chalked significant achievements across a wide variety of domains including sustainability, operational excellence, innovation and others.
Other Award winners of the night were MTN Ghana, Ecobank and Despite Group of Companies.
