A 36-year-old spiritualist who allegedly bit off the finger of a safety officer in the Assin North District has been remanded in police custody.

Iddi Olaxy Mohammed, also known as Money God, together with the victim were arraigned before the Assin Fosu Magistrate Court after they were arrested for a street fight between them.

According to the Prosecution, Chief Inspector Gilbert Ayongo Iddi, the spiritualist who is based in Assin Akomfode, and Evans Appiah-Adjei, 37, a safety officer with a Japanese construction firm working on the Assin Fosu- Assin Praso road engaged in the scuffle on March 21, 2023.

Evans was reportedly assigned to direct traffic at a section of the road his company is working on.

While performing his duty, he spotted Iddi walking on a freshly tarred portion of the road. The safety officer reportedly directed him to use a designated route but he refused.

The fact presented before the court indicated that, in an attempt by Evans to further prevent Iddi from using the said route, he slapped the safety officer.

He also retaliated by hitting him with a shovel resulting in a fierce street fight which led to injury on the left ear and the neck of Iddi.

During the scuffle, Evan’s right thump also fell in the gaping mouth of the spiritualist which he bit heavily.

The police arrested and charged them with breach of the public peace, contrary to section 298 of the criminal offenses act 29/60, and subsequently arraigned them before the court.

Evans Appiah-Adjei pleaded guilty with an explanation while Iddi Olaxy Mohammed pleaded guilty outrightly to the court.

Meanwhile, the court remanded the two in police custody to reappear on March 29, 2023, to allow the police to carry out further investigation.
