Spanish Embassy Donates Vehicles To Immigration And Police Service

The Spanish Ambassador to Ghana, H.E. Javier Gutiérrez has donated four Ford Pickups at a total cost of 96, 800 Euros to the Ghana Immigration Service and the Criminal Investigation Department(CID) of the Ghana Police Service.

The presentation of the vehicles was held at the Ministry of the Interior on behalf of the designated agencies.

Hon. Ambrose Dery, Minister for the Interior, who received the vehicles under the Ministry, thanked the Spanish Government for the support and indicated that the relationship between Ghana and Spain dates back since independence.

He said both Ghana and Spain have a common agenda in fighting international crimes which are detrimental to development. He reiterated Government’s commitment to equipping the Security Services to ensure peace and security in the country.

The Minister assured the Spanish Ambassador and the good people of Ghana of the Government’s commitment to ensuring a better Ghana in spite of the current economic difficulties being faced by the country.

He also assured that the vehicles will be put to good use to help the two Governments achieve their objective of effective migration management and the fight against organized crimes.

The Spanish Ambassador in response to Ambrose Dery’s appreciation on behalf of Ghanaians indicated that the presentation forms part of the Spanish Government’s support to the security services of Ghana to enhance their operations and reduce crime.
