The National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) has stepped in to assist with distributing relief items stuck at the South Tongu Assembly.
This follows a viral video from the District Chief Executive (DCE), Seth Kwesi Agbi, which captures the difficulties in transporting the items to victims.
The relief items are to be distributed to residents affected by the recent Akosombo dam spillage.
Earlier, the DCE said the South Tongu Assembly had not been able to distribute the relief items to the affected persons due to a lack of funds for transportation.
After the video went viral, NADMO and some benevolent people swiftly stepped in to assist the assembly with the distribution of the relief items.
However, the NADMO director for South Tongu, Collins Avornu, in an interview with Citi News, monitored by The Ghana Report, refuted claims that the DCE’s viral video led to the distribution of the relief items.
Mr. Avornu emphasized that NADMO had been distributing relief items for the past three weeks since the spillage of the Akosombo Dam.
“We have been distributing items for the last two or three weeks. We didn’t just start the distribution of items,” Mr. Avornu noted.
