Social media users praise Police officer for being different

Public perception of corruption has always listed the Ghana Police Service as corrupt but sergeant Ibrahim Yakubu, an officer with the Accra Central MTTD unit like many others has dared to be different.

He is indeed serving with integrity as the law enforcement agency’s motto says.

Sergeant Yakubu directs traffic at the GIMPA-Christian village junction and he is always punctual at work to help ease vehicular congestions.

The zeal with which he executes his job has caught the admiration of some social media users who have encountered him took to Facebook to share their experiences with him.

“You can meet him as early as 6 O’clock every morning doing his work,” a social media user, Bhakta Lawson, wrote.

Lawson says sergeant Yabuku turned down GHC 50 bribe from him when he tried to pay his way out for driving with an expired roadworthy.
” The first time I met this man was when I went out with my brother’s car. The roadworthy has expired a day ago. The police at Haatso arrested me and took Ghc 50 from me. When coming back, I decided to use the GIMPA road in order not to meet the police. I was living at Dome Pillar II then.
“I came across this policeman. He was alone on the road and stopped me. I was afraid so I took another GHc 50 and squeezed it into his hand but he refused and advised me with his sweet, cool voice to try my best and do it in the week so that he would not be compiled to raise me before the court.
“I was afraid he would arrest me for bribing him but he tolerated me and allowed me to go. I ask my brother who was sitting beside me if he is also a Ghana Police. In fact the next day, I went and do all papers.
and rather encouraged him to do the right thing.” He shared.

Bhakta Lawson writes:

Please share it. He deserves it.
