The Bibiani Circuit Court has remanded six persons in police custody for allegedly attacking and vandalising the Bibiani Fire Station in the Western North Region.
The six accused persons, who hail from the community, reportedly besieged the station on Sunday and destroyed the station due to the inability of the fire service personnel to respond to an emergency call.
The Public Relations Officer of the Ghana National Fire Service, ACFO 1 Timothy Osafo Affum, who gave the latest update in a Citi FM interview, said, fortunately, personnel could escape unhurt.
According to Mr Osafo, the community members mobilised themselves because they thought it was a deliberate act on the part of the personnel not to respond to their distress call.
“After committing that offence, they run into the bush, so a lot of them have gone into hiding,” ACFO 1 Timothy Osafo Affum said.
He appealed to the residents of Bibiani to assist with information to aid the arrest of the remaining offenders.
