Sinohydro projects will bring us more jobs – Dr. Boako
Dr. Gideon Boako, spokesperson and Economic Advisor to the Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has said the $2 billion Sinohydro projects financed by the Chinese government will provide jobs for the teaming unemployed youth.
According to him, the Sinohydro projects will include hospitals, extension of electricity to rural communities, and construction of court and residential buildings for the Judicial Service, landfill sites and industrial parks.
Under the deal, Sinohydro Group Limited of China will provide the infrastructure of the government’s choice in exchange for Ghana’s refined bauxite.
The first phase of the project, costing $646.6 million, begins with the Tamale Interchange project.
The second phase of the project will come on stream after approval by Parliament. It will include an additional 1,300 kilometres of roads, three interchanges, and 69 steel bridges at an estimated $850 million.
“Labours will be employed to work on these projects, suppliers of construction material will be engaged and this is job for Ghanaian citizens” he said
Dr. Boako said, the number of roads to be constructed under the Sinohydro products clearly shows that the erstwhile Mahama government did nothing in its two terms.
According to him, the Akufo-Addo government per this agreement has rescued Ghanaians from the “Egyptians” oppressors.
“The Sinohydro project will address key problems in Ghana, it has the construction and reconstruction of major roads which clearly shows that the roads captured in the green book was merely artistic impression, they did nothing on the ground…… this is similar to the biblical rescuing of the Israelites from “Egypt to Canan, Akufo-Addo has rescued us” he said.
