SHSs Have Adequate Food Items – Ministry Of Education

The Ministry of Education has debunked reports that there is a food shortage in the various Senior High Schools (SHSs) across the country.

According to a press release from the ministry on October 11, 2022, all SHSs in the country have received an adequate supply of food items.

In the statement, the ministry said they were surprised when the news and media discussions were suggesting the immediate closure of some senior high schools over food shortage.

“The Ministry of Education has noted with surprise news publication and media discussions which purport an imminent closure of some Senior High Schools due to shortage of food. Specific references were made to some schools in the Volta Region.”

“The Ministry wishes to place on record that our checks reveal adequate supplies of food items have been made to the schools in question. The Ministry, however, takes cognizance of recent disruptions within the food supply chain but assures parents and guardians that they have been addressed. Consequently, all Senior High Schools in the country have received an adequate supply of food items.”

The ministry advised the public to disregard all rumours concerning the feeding of Senior High Schools.
