Shoe shine caught pants down with 10-year old
A 35-year-old shoemaker, popularly known as Akwasi Shoe Shine, has been caught pants down, allegedly defiling a 10-year-old girl.
Court documents suggest that it was the second time the accused person had subjected the little girl to unnatural carnal knowledge through the anus.
The cobbler pleaded not guilty to the crime.
However, a prosecution witness and a public health specialist at the Ussher Polyclinic, Dr Patrick Amo Mensah, believed otherwise.
When he took his turn in the witness dock, he said, “On September 25, 2018, a patient [name withheld] was brought to the Ussher Polyclinic as having been defiled by a shoemaker.
“And according to the victim this was the second occasion sex has taken place through the anus. On questioning, she complained of the pain in the anus.
“On examination, there was healing brew on the right natural side. I made an impression that defilement could have taken place and l then made an indication where the hidden brew was,” he recalled.
With no legal representation, the Presiding judge, Rita Abrokwa Doko, asked if the accused had any question for the doctor.
But he responded in the negative. He will reappear before the court on May 29.
The facts of the case are that both the accused and the victim live at Chorkor, a fishing community in Accra.
On the day of the incident, the victim had closed from school around 3 pm and was heading home.
The accused person met her and lured her to the back of someone’s window and had sexual intercourse with her through the anus.
In the evening, the victim’s aunt detected that her gait had changed, and questioned her accordingly, but the victim did not answer.
The aunt then informed the complainant who also questioned the victim, but she still refused to talk until she was caned.
The victim confirmed the ordeal she went through in the hands of Akwasi Shoe shine.
Upon receipt of the information, a report was made to the Dansoman Police Station.
A police medical form was issued to the complainant to send the victim to the hospital for examination and report.
The accused person was then arrested, and after investigation, charged with the offence and arraigned before court.
