Sheriff Tiraspol star Edmund Addo receives a late Black Stars call up ahead of Zimbabwe clash

After a brilliant performance against Real Madrid in the Champions League in midweek, Sheriff Tiraspol star Edmund Addo is set for his maiden call up to the Black Stars for the 2022 World Cup qualifying double-header against Zimbabwe.

The in-form midfielder received a late call up from coach Milovan Rajevac as a replacement for Italy- based Alfred Duncan who pulled out of the team due to a hamstring injury, having been included in the thirty-two man provisional squad.

Addo’s inclusion will come as a relief to some section of the Ghanaian football fans who were looking forward to it after a decent performance in FC Sheriff’s  2-1 win over Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu.

According to a report, the 21-year-old has been contacted by the Ghana FA and is expected to join the team’s camp next week as they prepare for the crucial encounters.

He has made 12 appearances this season for the Moldovan side and will be looking forward to justifying his inclusion and hope for a possible first international cap.

The Black Stars will host the Warriors of Zimbabwe on October 9 at the Cape Coast stadium before travelling to Harare three days later for the reverse encounter.
