She called me ‘abrewa’ – Sista Afia on why she attacked Freda Rhymz

Following the heated altercation between Sista Afia and Freda Rhymz that nearly ended in the exchange of blows at the premises of TV3, many have wondered what really triggered the incident.

Well, it is not news that the two are ‘beefing’ and have released songs to jab each other, but the question  on the minds of many almost a week after the incident is, what really transpired before the near fisticuffs?

Beef Alert: Freda Rhymz replies Sista Afia’s ‘WMT’

According to Sista Afia, Freda called her “abrewa”, literally meaning “old lady ‘and that got her infuriated.

“Freda started it [fight]. So I was entering TV3’s premises …When I told my manager I need to speak to Freda as the friend that she used to be with me. And my manager was like no we are late so let’s go inside right now. She was a few metres away from me.

“She was not that far so anything that she said I could hear. To me she was like, they should allow that old lady to enter, and it triggered me. So I wanted her to say it to my face. Like she should look me in the eye and say that to me that they should allow the old lady. That was it,” she said of their brawl which went viral.

The afro-pop singer said contrary to reports, she did not confront Freda because of their ongoing rap battle,  even though she had issues with her, alleging in her song that she (Sista Afia) has had sex with Shatta Wale, Medikal and Bisa Kdei.
They both met on UTV’s Showbiz 360 and again tempers flared up.

Freda Rhymz nearly walked off the set after Sista Afia indicated that she would attack her again for peddling lies about her.

Background

For weeks now, Sista Afia has ignited a lot of controversy after the release of her song ‘WMT’ on April 22.

While Sista Afia did not mention names, but gave clues about who she was referring to, people have drawn the lines and concluded that she took jabs at Sister Derby, Wendy Shay, and Efia Odo in the song.

The song saw counter jabs and reactions from Freda Rhymz who released ‘KMT’, and Eno with ‘Rap Goddess’.

Sista Afia released ‘You Got Nerves’ after that, prompting Eno to also drop ‘Argument Done’.

Freda Rhymz, who didn’t want to be left out of the beef party, also released ‘Point of Correction’.
