Ghanaian dancehall artiste Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jr., popularly known as Shatta Wale, has threatened to harm his colleague, Stonebwoy, over an event venue misunderstanding.

Shatta Wale claims he had secured the Accra Sports Stadium for a concert, but Stonebwoy stepped in later to influence authorities to reassign the venue to him [Stonebwoy].

In July 2023, Shatta Wale and Medikal announced their annual ‘Freedom Wave Festival’, a five-day programme, starting on the 20th-25th of December at the Accra Sports Stadium.

On September 8, Shatta Wale posted the details of the show on his social media pages.

A few days afterwards, Stonebwoy also announced that he would hold his annual ‘BHIM Concert’ on December 22, 2023, at the same Accra Sports Stadium, where Shatta Wale and Medikal would host their concert.

Consequently, Shatta Wale has taken to social media to express his disappointment with the clash of dates and venue arrangements.

In a Facebook Live video on Tuesday, September 19, 2023, he alleged that the authorities of the stadium had been influenced by external forces to allow his arch-rival Stonebwoy to hold his Bhim Concert three days before him.

In another video,  Shatta Wale threatened to slap Stonebwoy if they met anywhere.

“Don’t make me see you eye to eye. I don’t want to meet you anywhere in your life. If you see me, pass, because if you try to smile at me, I’ll slap you. I’ll break your leg”.

He added: “When you brought out the gun, nobody warned and talked sense into your brain.”

“You are using your disability to seek empathy, but I don’t see you like that. I see you are a hard guy”.

In response to the development, the Director General of the National Sports Authority, Professor Peter Twumasi, has clarified that the two heavyweights are scheduled to have their shows on two separate dates, which should not cause any problems.

“We met with his team and agreed on these conditions. They’re ok,” he noted in an interview with Joy FM. “December 25 booked for Shatta, 22nd for Stone, and others have different dates in December”.
