Several passengers are battling for their lives after a collision between a commercial bus and a Toyota Hilux on the Bunkprugu road in the North East Region.
According to eyewitnesses, the collision occurred after one driver attempted to overtake the other on the deplorable road.
Both vehicles reportedly somersaulted multiple times after the crash over a gutter near the Bunkprugu Senior High School.
The victims were rushed to the Tamale Teaching Hospital and the Bunkprugu Hospital for treatment.
No death has been recorded.
Road accidents in the country
The country is not only losing its human capital to accident-related deaths, but productive lives are being rendered disabled due to severe injuries.
More than 200 people die monthly in road accidents in Ghana, the National Road Safety Authority (NRSA) has said.
The latest figure was for the period between January 1, 2022, and August 31, 2022, which accounted for 1,600 deaths.
This represents a 16% decrease compared to the same period in 2021, which recorded 1,800 deaths.
