The Accra Regional Police Command, working in collaboration with the Eastern Regional Police Command, has arrested seven suspected members of a notorious highway robbery syndicate believed to be behind a series of violent robberies in the Greater Accra, Eastern, and Ashanti Regions.
In a press statement released on Saturday, January 10, 2025, the police indicated that the group is connected to a violent armed robbery that occurred on November 29, 2025, at a residence in Peduase, Aburi.
During the incident, the suspects allegedly used firearms and made away with mobile phones, jewellery, and an undisclosed amount of cash.
The arrests were the result of intelligence-led investigations carried out by the Eastern Regional Police Intelligence Directorate (PID), in close collaboration with the Accra Regional PID.
As part of the operation, a 30-year-old suspect, Kofi Ishmael, was arrested on January 6, 2026, at Avenor in Accra.
Police say that during interrogation, Ishmael admitted his involvement in the Peduase robbery and identified Kwame Bediako, popularly known as “Star Boy,” as the alleged leader of the syndicate.

Acting on this information, police apprehended Bediako at Ablekuma Agape.
A search of his residence led to the recovery of a pump-action gun concealed within the fence wall, together with four BB cartridges. Bediako reportedly admitted to his involvement in several other robbery cases.
Investigations revealed that the gang had carried out multiple highway robberies targeting motorists and trailer drivers along major routes, including the Tema Motorway, Achimota Forest Road, Pokuase, Amasaman, Suhum, Nkawkaw, and the Juaso–Kumasi stretch.
