Sergeant Nakor urges colleague officers to be of good behavior
A police officer with the Madina, Motor Transport and Traffic Department (MTTD), Sergeant Simon Nakor is urging colleague police officers to always maintain the highest code of conduct at the various duty points rather than engage in acts that bring ‘shame’ to the entire police force.
According to him, police officers are supposed to do the right thing and work hard since their core mandate is to serve the people.
Sergeant Nakor’s advise comes after a video went viral, where he was being commended for standing out among his fellow police officers and also showing the highest form of police practice during the discharge of his duties at the Atomic Junction-Madina roundabout.
Speaking exclusively to The Ghana Report, Sergeant Nakor stressed on the need for other police officers to totally dedicate themselves to the job instead of going after their own interests.
“Police officers must work effectively and always have the interests of the people at heart. When you do the right thing, other people will see you and commend you for the good works so they should know that whatever they do, people will be watching them.”
In response to what pushes him to do what he does, Sergeant Nakor said, he is very empathetic to people and indeed “good name they say is better than riches.”
He also appealed to the drivers and road users to cooperate with the police at their various duty points and refrain from calling so-called “big men” anytime they are being accosted by the police.
Meanwhile, some commuters who spoke to The Ghana Report , confirmed the news of the officer’s exemplary behavior and commended the police for exhibiting a lifestyle worthy of emulation.
One commuter who spoke to The Ghana Report on the basis of anonymity, said “The traffic situation here is terrible but anytime this officer comes here, he’s able to coordinates the driver so well and within the shortest time, there is free vehicular movement. “
