Sekondi High Court jails famous Highlife Musician 30 days for contempt

The Sekondi Commercial High Court has jailed popular highlife musician Nhyiraba Kojo for 30 days for contempt over a case filed by some residents of Fijai in the Western Region over noise from his nightclub.

Nhyiraba Kojo is noted to be the owner of NK City Nightclub in Takoradi where revellers often entertain themselves at night.

Some residents in his locality complained that the loud music from the nightclub hinders sleep at night.

The court presided over by Justice Sedina Agbemava sentenced him to imprisonment following Nhyiraba Kojo’s failure to observe an interlocutory injunction order by the court for him to stop the noise at the nightclub, ensure soundproof installation at the NK City Nightclub and submit a report to the court.

The petitioners of the case are Edmund Sampana Dienorng, Nicholas Imbeah, and Samuel Kofi Dzukey.

The Counsel for the four Fijai residents petitioners namely Pamela Arvoh-Mensah of Owusu Ankomah Arvoh Mensah, Dzigba and Associates noted in an interview monitored by The Ghana Report on Citi News that “the court sentenced the respondent, Nhyiraba Kojo to a term of imprisonment of 30 days or until he purges himself of the contempt before his prison term is served in full”.

Nhyiraba Kojo was one of the iconic musicians in their early 20s who released hit songs. The famous was the ”Turn Around” album featuring Dr. Cryme, Nero X  &and Sammy in 2014′.

Aside from that, Nhyiraba Kojo has other songs like ‘Yaayi’ featuring Keche, ‘The Way You Dey Do Am’, and ‘Adiza’ featuring MoQid.
