See the 6 churches fined for breaching ban on drumming, noise-making
The Ga Traditional Council has fined six churches in the Accra Metropolis for breaching the ban on drumming and noise-making announced by the Ga State.
They are to pay a fine of GH₵3,000, one sheep and one box of Castle Bridge Gin.
The council indicated that failure to do so would attract further punitive measures.
In all, the fined churches have a week each to pay the fine.
A task force was put together to oversee the one-month ban on all forms of noise-making and drumming in Accra which commenced from May 15, 2023, to June 15, 2023, as part of preparations for the celebration of the Homowo festival by the Ga people.
The churches are;
1. Saint Margaret Mary Catholic Church, SSNIT Flat, Dansoman-Accra
2.Faith Independent Baptist Church, Accra
3.Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Abeka-Lapaz
4.Winners Chapel International, Head-Office
5.The Church of Pentecost, Kaneshie Branch
6.Pure Fire Miracle Ministries International, Kisseman
The ban affects any form of noise-making, including the use of loudspeakers, drums, tambourines, funeral rites, and roadside evangelism.
