Sarkodie was absent twice from Kofi Mole’s video shoot – Yaw Skyface
Ghanaian music video director Yaw Skyface has opened up on Kofi Mole’s comment regarding Sarkodie not availing himself for the ‘Makoma’ music video shoot.
According to Kofi, after the song was done, several attempts to get Sarkodie to take part in the video shoot, proved futile.
He made this revelation while responding to an X user who complained that Kofi Mole did not do enough promotion for the song.
“One day, ago organised kanta boys make we put Kofi Mole for table make we lash am. Promo no enter this song inside koraa. You made a whole Sarkodie turn Bruno Mars,” the social media user wrote in Pidgin English.
In his response, Kofi wrote: “I was ready to shoot a video but never got any response from Sark and the team after multiple texts and calls. I let that slide.”
Speaking in a phone interview on, the director for the ‘Makoma’ video clarified his role in the production which was supposed to have featured Sarkodie.
Giving an account of what happened, he said that two separate dates were booked for Sarkodie to join the recording sessions for the collaborative song ‘Makoma’ but he was not present on both occasions.
“We set [up] two dates and King Sark did not show up,” he stated.
This is not the first time Sarkodie has been accused of being unresponsive, as other artistes such as Freddy Meiway, Yemi Alade, Samini, and Edem have spoken out about similar experiences.
Skyface’s comments underline the challenges music producers often face when working with high-profile artistes, and the impact such situations can have on the creative process.
