Sanitation Minister apologizes to Adom FM intern
The Ministry of Sanitation and Water Resources has apologized to the Adom FM intern, Rahinatu Abdul Bach, who was denied an interview by the sector minister, Madam Cecilia Dapaah.
The ministry in a press release apologized to Rahinatu and Adom FM for any inconvenience the actions of the minister may have caused them.
“It is the view of the Ministry that the issue should not be stretched any further which could affect the existing cordial relationship between the sector Minister and the media, we wish to sincerely apologize to the reporter and the media house for any inconvenience caused” portions of the statement read.
Sanitation Minister, Cecilia Dapaah has been in the news for allegedly declining an interview with an intern of kokomlemle based Adom FM allegedly on the basis of the lady’s status as an intern.
The minister has received a lot of backlash from the general public for being hostile and unfriendly to the young professional.
The Ministry in its press statement said the minister never refused the intern an interview, rather, the statement says, the minister asked to be called at a later time since she was in a meeting at the time of the call.
“It should be stated that the minister was at a meeting when she received the call and was therefore requesting that the reporter should call later,” extracts of the statement read.
The statement further said, “The minister was only of the view that a senior reporter from the station should have called to conduct the interview, since the senior reporter would have been in a better position to appreciate the issues more clearly from the technical point of view.”
The statement insisted that the lady in question was not denied an interview based on her status as an intern.
“The sector minister did not ignore the reporter on the basis that she was an intern.”
