Sammy Gyamfi picked up after studio discussion
National Communications Officer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi, has been picked up after a studio discussion on UTV.
The Communications Officer was reportedly picked up by Criminal Investigations Department (CID)operatives earlier today at the premises of Accra based television station UTV after the station’s morning show that glances through the day’s newspapers.
He was at the television station as a studio panellist on the programme “Adekye Nsroma.”
Multiple sources say minutes after the discussion, plain-clothed police officers, presumed to be from the CID picked him and whisked him away.
Peacefmonline reported that the vociferous NDC National Communications Officer was whisked away in a white pick-up vehicle with registration number VR 4870 – 12.
According to Peacefmonline, just as Gyamfi was making his way to board his vehicle after the television programme, the police officers approached him, produced a warrant and took him away.
It is unclear the reason for his arrest but he is believed to have been picked following pending investigations into an ongoing cybercrime case.
Information gathered by theghanareport.com has confirmed that Sammy Gyamfi is currently in the grips of the police service specifically the Cybercrime Unit.
We are also informed that the Communications Officer’s lawyer is currently in a closed-door meeting with the CID operatives.
In December last year, Gyamfi refused to honour an invitation by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID).
This was after he sued the police from examining his phone records and gaining access to his Facebook account.
