Veteran broadcaster and Director of Communications at the Melcom Group of Companies, Godwin Avenorgbo, has passed on.
His death was announced by the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC), where he worked for many years before joining other companies as a professional public relations officer.
A GBC Facebook post on Monday, August 19, 2024, said that Godwin Avenorgbor, popularly known as ‘Grandmaster’ has “bowed out” and “may his gentle soul rest in peace🙏🏽”.
The post was accompanied by a photograph of him in a relaxed pose.
Mr. Godwin Avenorgbo played a pivotal role during the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) 75th Anniversary Commemorative Lecture held at the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel in Accra on Thursday, August 15, 2024.
He was the Chairman of the Anniversary Planning Committee.
Grandmaster is well-remembered for his long service at the national broadcaster, GBC, where he anchored many programmes with his distinctive voice and engaging presentation style as a journalist and broadcaster, and later as a public relations and corporate communications specialist.
Mr. Avenorgbo has been associated with various companies and organisations in Ghana as a public relations and communications strategist, a role he has played since the end of his life in August 2024.
He will fondly be remembered by the media fraternity.
