Sacking John Painstil & Joseph Laumann reflects GFA’s failure – Wilfred Osei Palmer

Source The Ghana Report

Former Executive Council Member of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Wilfred Osei Kweku Palmer, criticises the FA’s decision to dismiss assistant coaches John Paintsil and Joseph Laumann, describing it as a reflection of the Association’s consistent failures.

His comments follow the FA’s reported plans to revamp the Black Stars’ backroom staff, led by Otto Addo, ahead of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar.

Osei Kweku Palmer argues that dismissing the two assistants while retaining Otto Addo is an irrelevant move.

It’s a strong indication of the Ghana Football Association that they’ve not done thorough work of the technical department of the BLACK STARS.

When, through your analysis, you realize that in the technical failure, it will certainly come from the head coach and not the assistant.

So if there is a need for the technical department to be overhauled, then everybody within that arena will have to go, not only the assistant for the head coach within, but have issues with it.

I’m not saying that the assistant offered the immediate support that he needed, but there was no complaint from the head coach that the assistants were substandard, and why would you now give an excuse to the fact that the technical bankrupt that the Black Stars was due to the assistant and not the Head Coach.
