Rotational Nurse hangs himself over unpaid allowances
A rotational nurse, identified as Paul Dodzi, has allegedly committed suicide by hanging in an uncompleted building at Asankragua in the Asante Akim South Municipality of the Ashanti Region.
It is reported that Paul Dodzi was posted to the Church of God Hospital at Esieninpong in the Ejisu Municipality for his national service.
Colleagues in the hospital began making inquiries of him when they realized he had not turned up at work the whole day, only to receive news later on Thursday, May 11, that he had allegedly hanged himself.
Information gathered revealed that the young man was in his early twenties and had lately been complaining about his service allowances which he claimed had been unpaid for some months.
A close colleague indicated that the situation had compounded the deceased’s economic woes and rendered him unable to fend for himself.
It is reported that rotational nurses are owed by the government as much as 10 months in arrears.
In the same vein, a 40-year-old farmer identified as Kofi Annan committed suicide at Esaman, a suburb of Elmina in the Central Region.
The deceased was said to have woken up at dawn on Friday, April 7, 2023, and hanged himself with a rope in his room.
According to the neighbours of the deceased, Kofi Annan was fond of saying he’ll one day kill himself.
And he eventually carried it out on Good Friday, a day marked by Christians to signify the death of Jesus Christ.
Close sources revealed that he was looking fit when they saw him going to church on Thursday evening [April 6, 2023] and showed no sign that he had any problem.
