Romantic locations of Wales

Do you want to take your sweetheart to one of Wales’ most beautiful places on St. Dwynwen’s Day?

(‘Diwrnod Santes Dwynwen’ is the Welsh equivalent of Valentine’s Day, celebrated annually on 25 January)

From Llanfair to Welshpool, the National Trust in Wales has published a collection of photos of Wales’ most romantic spots—views that capture the feeling of “I love you.”

The National Trust in Wales said:

“We have chosen a selection of views that will inspire ‘love at first sight,’ which can be easily missed if you don’t know where to look.”

The home of the Welsh dragon at Dinas Emrys – this view over Nant Gwynant in Eryri (Snowdonia) awakens the history of the famous legend about the battle between the red dragon and the white dragon, where the red dragon was victorious.

The panoramic view to be seen from the top of Foel y Mwnt allows you to see Bardsey Island and Snowdon on a clear day. Occasionally you can see dolphins, porpoises, or seals from this splendid spot. A lovely place to go for a walk on St. Dwynwen’s Day.

From the wooden bench in the deer park, there is a great view of Newton House – it looks like a perfect place for lovers to take a break while walking the Deer Park path. Dinefwr, Carmarthenshire, has strong connections with the Welsh princes of Deheubarth.

From Plas Menai, there is a lovely view of the Menai Strait and Eryri. Only a stone’s throw away is Llanddwyn Island, the island of Welsh lovers and home to the ruins of St. Dwynwen’s church.

“There’s nowhere like Dinlle when the weather is fine” – on a clear day, you can see Llanddwyn Island, the island of Wales’ patron saint of lovers, St. Dwynwen, from Dinas Dinlle. According to the story, this is where Dwynwen lived after establishing a nunnery there. The ruins of a church that had been dedicated to her can be seen there to this day.
