Residents, workers and passers-by around the Asylum Down area can now heave a sigh of relief.
This is because a young man noted for removing car mirrors in broad daylight has been apprehended.
His modus operandi is to survey the area and befriend workers around until he gets the opportunity to steal the car mirrors of patrons who come to the area. He later sells them to unsuspecting victims.
Luck however eluded him when he was caught in the act around the Little Hearts Medical Practice car park at Asylum Down on Wednesday, March 22.
According to Eyewitnesses, this particular suspect, who appears to be in his early 30s has been caught on CCTV several times successfully bolting away with people’s mirrors.
On other occasions, he is spotted sitting under a mango tree in the area, waiting for an opportunity to get into action.
He pleaded with his apprehenders to protect him as many thronged the entrance of the health practice to catch a glimpse of the thief and give him the ‘beatings of his life’.
The suspect was finally whisked away by the police.
