Robber arrested after stabbing police officer

A suspected robber has been arrested for stabbing a police officer during a robbery operation at Ashale Botwe in Accra.

According to a police report, on February 12, the suspect, Francis Addo, who was riding a motorbike, attacked a woman with a knife while on her way to the market.

He robbed her of an iPhone 14 pro-Max valued at GHC18,000 and GHC2,400 cash.

General Constable Foster Alipoe Ablerh, who lives in the area, heard of the robbery and pursued and arrested him.

The suspect, however, slashed the officer with a knife, leaving a deep wound on his palm.

With the help of the female victim and a bleeding palm, the officer still transported the robber to the Lakeside Community 8 Police station.

The police officer and the female victim, who also sustained bruises on both knees, were issued with police medical forms to attend a hospital.

Meanwhile, two knives and a blue Royal motorbike with the registration number M-23-GT 3577 retrieved from the suspect have been retained at the station.

In another robbery incident, a 20-year-old has been remanded for allegedly killing a 74-year-old stroke patient after robbing her in her three-bedroom house at Kasoa Lamtey in the Central region.

The prosecutor said that the suspect tied the woman with a rope, cut her neck, and ransacked the three-bedroom house, stealing valuable items and an undisclosed amount of money.

Police reported that CCTV cameras in the house captured the suspect, leading to his arrest.
