The Adabraka District Court has granted GH¢20,000 bail with two sureties to an 18-year-old man accused of assaulting a security officer at the Greater Accra Regional Hospital, popularly known as Ridge Hospital.
Gabriel Nii Offei Dimson pleaded not guilty to the charge of assault when he appeared before the court, which subsequently adjourned the case to April 15, 2026.
Presenting the facts, Inspector Sandra Amakye told the court that the complainant, Noah Foli, is a security officer at the facility, while Dimson resides at Osu in Accra.
According to the prosecution, the incident occurred on February 18 at about 5:00 p.m., when Dimson visited the hospital’s Maternity Ward, where his wife had reportedly gone to deliver.
The court heard that Dimson positioned himself in an unauthorised area within the hospital premises. The complainant approached him and asked him to relocate, explaining that visitors were not permitted at that spot, and directed him to a designated waiting area.
Although Dimson initially complied, the prosecution said he later returned to the same location. When the security officer confronted him again, a confrontation ensued.
During the altercation, Dimson allegedly punched the officer, causing him to fall heavily to the ground and lose consciousness.
He was subsequently arrested to assist with investigations.
The prosecution further told the court that the complainant was admitted to the hospital’s Emergency Ward and is responding to treatment.
