Rex Omar on why he will never attend church again
Ghanaian highlife artiste, Rex Owusu Marfo popularly known in showbiz as Rex Omar has revealed the reason why he will never attempt to go to church again in his lifetime.
Rex Omar in an interview recounted how he used to be a very active member of a church he refused to mention the name.
He said before joining the Ghana music industry and being known to be a highlife musician, he used to contribute to all church activities and was well-known by all the congregants and officers of the church.
The ‘Obi Do Ba’ hitmaker said there was a time he needed help to open a studio for recording songs and turned to the church for support.
According to him, his church pastor later informed him that the church board after thorough discussions, had concluded that they could not allocate church funds to aid his studio recording sessions.
He said this experience marked the turning point that led him to stop attending church.
“Later, Pastor told me that the church board has sat down and they said we can’t use church money for recording”, he said in an interview monitored by The Ghana Report on Asaase radio.
The highlife artiste remembered how a ‘worldly person/non-Christian’ rather sponsored his recording.
Rex Omar added that he saw no reason in wasting his time going to church if he was not being supported by the same church for writing gospel songs from the same bible on which preaching by his pastor was based.
