Purported apology letter from me fake – Sanitation Minister

Sanitation Minister Cecilia Dapaah has described as fake an apology letter purporting to have come from her outfit to Rahinatu Abdul Bach, an intern with Accra based Adom FM as well as management of the radio station.

According to her, the press release making rounds in the media, did not come from her ministry.

Cecilia Dapaah received a lot of blacklash for allegedly refusing to grant an interview to the intern on the basis that she was not qualified to conduct the interview.

Speaking on Accra based Oman FM, the minister questioned why the media expects her to apologize when she should be the one receiving the apology.

According to her, the radio station did not show her the much deserved respect hence the need for an apology from the outfit.

“Normally before experienced journalists call you for an interview, they inform you ahead of time, which they did not do,” she said.

The minister emphasized the need for journalists to show professionalism in their work.

She questioned the assignment editor’s decision to assign an intern to interview her.

“You don’t let an intern call a minister, an elderly person like me, please respect the office even if you don’t respect me as a human being,” she said.

she says she has not been treated fairly by Adom FM explaining that the media house was quick to publish the story in order to court disaffection for her in the eyes of the public.

“I was in a meeting when she called, without introducing herself she went ahead with her questions, all she kept saying while I enquired was, ‘I am an intern and I want to interview you’, so I asked her to call at a later date” she narrated.

The aggrieved minister said, she will seek redress at the National Media Commission (NMC).

“I will petition the NMC, I have already drafted it, I just need to put finishing touches” she said.
