The Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) has directed the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) to provide a load-shedding timetable amidst ongoing disruptions in electricity supply to the public.
Despite recent power interruptions, ECG insists that the current issues do not warrant the implementation of a load-shedding timetable.
According to the External Communications Manager at ECG, Laila Abubakar, the recent power cuts may be due to other factors and emphasized that the notorious ‘dumsor’ phenomenon has not returned.
She assured the public that ECG’s management was diligently working to address the challenges facing the power sector.

However, in a statement issued on Monday, March 18, 2024, PURC mandated ECG to provide a detailed load management timetable to the commission by April 2, 2024.
The ECG is expected to provide ratings and current loadings of the overloaded distribution transformers, GPS locations of all overloaded distribution transformers, ratings of new transformers to be installed at each location, timelines and durations for the installation of transformers, a load management timetable corresponding with the installation timelines, and evidence of the dissemination of this information to consumers.
