The Minority in Parliament has urged the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) to publish the timetable for the current power outages across the country.
The Minority spokesperson for Energy, John Jinapor who spoke to reporters at parliament on Thursday, February 29, said the timetable will help Ghanaians plan their lives accordingly.
He stated that the government officials’ deliberate denial that there is no load shedding is no longer acceptable.
“We are reliably informed that ‘dumsor’ will continue today at noon and it’s only fair that Ghanaians are made aware.
“The best this government led by Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and his vice Dr Mahamudu Bawumia can do is to publish the schedule of the ongoing ‘dumsor’, so people can plan their lives,” Mr Jinapor said.
Mr Jinapor added that the government’s inability to purchase enough fuel to power some thermal plants due to financial constraints led to the challenges.
The Executive Director of the Africa Center for Energy Policy (ACEP), Benjamin Boakye has also called on the government to provide proper information about the power outages to the citizenry.
He echoed the Minority’s view, stating that it would allow the public to plan and make necessary adjustments.
Meanwhile, some Ghanaians are calling on the government to address the recent power outages that occur without prior notice from electricity providers.
According to some affected people from various parts of the country, the frequent disconnection is affecting their businesses.
