The Pru East constituency’s allocation from the ‘One Constituency, One Ambulance’ initiative is reportedly missing.

This was revealed during the assembly’s 25th ordinary meeting at Yeji on Thursday, May 25, 2023.

Assemblyman for the Yeji Traditional Council Electoral Area, Godwin Awudi, raised the issue on the floor, citing complaints from his constituents.

According to Mr Awudi, the people of Yeji have had to rely on the ambulance from Kwame Danso to transport emergency cases to either the Techiman Holy Family Hospital or the Okomfo Anokyi Teaching Hospital in Kumasi.

He then appealed to the Pru East District Chief Executive(DCE), Adams Abdulai, to locate the vehicle or risk the people’s wrath.

Meanwhile, the DCE also told journalists that he had not seen the ambulance for some time.

But according to his investigations, it has developed a fault and is currently at a workshop for maintenance.

He also pleaded with the National Ambulance Service to hasten the repair works on the ambulance to alleviate the struggles of the constituents in accessing healthcare.

New ambulances were distributed to all 275 constituencies in 2020 as part of the government’s plan to help improve emergency healthcare delivery to the citizens.

The ambulances became a subject of controversy following the government’s refusal to distribute the first batch that arrived in the country in September 2019.

The government had insisted that the distribution would be done on receipt of the rest, a decision some members of the public criticised as wrong, considering the vulnerabilities within the health delivery process and emergency response.
