Prof Alabi urges Ghanaians to speak up against society’s wrongs

The National Democratic Congress Campaign Manager for the December 7 polls has urged the general public to always speak against the ills in the society.

Professor Joshua Alabi said it is important to always call out wrongdoers regardless of their party colours.

The NDC Campaign Manager was speaking at a meeting between the Civil and Local Government Staff Association and the NDC Flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama in Accra.

“The wrongs in society thrive when right-thinking people remain silent on topical issues. Doing that undermines the collective good of the people. Keeping quiet is not helping all of us,” he indicated.

Professor Alabi observed that it is easier for the public to be dismissive of politicians when they raise cogent arguments about governance, but once everybody comes on board, the solution becomes much easier.

He has, therefore, called on Ghanaians to let their voices be heard, especially on governance and political issues in the upcoming elections.

Meanwhile, the NDC says it is moving away from acrimonious campaigns as the country prepares for the 2020 elections.

Earlier this week, the NDC Flagbearer  pledged to abstain from politics of insults and name-calling in the electioneering campaign.

“These unprovoked attacks and insults and lies have already started. But I can assure all Ghanaians that Naana Jane and myself will never engage in insults and name-calling of our opponents,” Mr Mahama said.

Adding her voice, the NDC running mate Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang also said politics is not an avenue for insults.
