Prez Akufo-Addo commends teachers for their contributions to the country
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has praised teachers in Ghana for their dedication and commitment towards the development of the nation through education.
According to him, the huge investment being made in the education sector in the country would not yield any result without the teacher.
Speaking at the Ghana Teachers Prize 2023 ceremony in Takoradi in the Western Region, President Akufo-Addo said, “We can never overlook the significant role of teachers in the nation’s development agenda. Your role of shaping the minds and hands of the future generation, imbibing our cultural heritage ideals that bind us as a people.”
President Akufo-Addo noted that the education sector faces many challenges despite the huge investments, adding, “We are committed to resourcing teachers, improving conditions and creating the enabling environment for teachers to thrive.”
“The government’s commitment to education in the country has been exemplary, and I am encouraged by the considerable improvement in Ghana’s education system.”
The Ghana Teachers Prize 2023 was on the theme: “The Teachers We Need for the Education We Want: The Global Imperative to Reverse the Teacher Shortage.”
