President Akufo-Addo, top state officials to attend Christian Atsu’s funeral
The President of the Republic, H.E Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will be in attendance next weekend when late Black Stars forward Christian Atsu is laid to rest.
Last month when the President hosted the family of the late player at the Jubilee House, he assured that the state will provide all the needed support to ensure he is given a befitting burial.
“I want to express to you his family and the sporting football fraternity of Ghana, my deep condolences for what has happened…..and I speak not just for myself but the entire 31 million people of our country.
“Our responsibility is to give you as much support as we can. We can never erase the loss of this very brilliant man,” President Akufo-Addo said at the meeting.
The President added, “The Ghanaian people must express their appreciation for the work that he did for our nation and the contribution he made to the development of the game and sports in general.
At the meeting, President Akufo-Addo urged the family to schedule the funeral in such a way that he will be able to attend personally to pay his last respect.
According to information gathered from sources close to the family of Christian Atsu, that was considered before the March 17 date for the funeral of the player was settled on.
This weekend, President Akufo-Addo and other top officials will be present for the funeral of the late Black Stars player as promised.
