A pregnant woman who was plying the Tuasaa-Bulenge road on a motorbike fell off while on her way for antenatal care at Bulenge in the Wa district of the Upper West region.

The Tuasaa community, which is some 4 kilometres away from the Bulenge community, lies on the main road heading to the Bulenge bridge.

The community has been grappling with the deteriorating road infrastructure, causing considerable challenges for commercial drivers, traders and residents.

According to residents, the deplorable nature of the Tuasaa-Bulenge road is impeding health care delivery, among other things, in the area.

The common means of transportation are tricycles and motorbikes, but sometimes, passengers fall off the bikes, increasing their woes.

The muddy and bumpy road makes it difficult for road users who ply it.

Recounting her sad ordeal, the pregnant woman said, “The road is not good. We tried to negotiate a curve, and we fell off. I even sustained some bruises.”

Other commuters also expressed worry and called on the government to fix the roads.
