The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced a temporary disruption in power supply to some communities in the Volta Region.
A statement from ECG explained that the water resulting from the Akosombo Dam spillage had inundated the Sogakope Bulk Supply Point.
In the interest of safety, the supply point has been temporarily shut down, leading to an unintended impact on the electricity supply to various areas.
The affected communities are Sogakope, Akatsi, Adidome, Anloga, Abor, Keta, and other nearby communities.
The statement from ECG assured that engineers from the Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo) and ECG are on standby to restore power supply to the affected areas as soon as the water recedes.
The statement also expressed deep regret for any inconvenience caused by the shutdown.
