Power outages to hit parts of Accra for two months
The Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo) has served notice on power outages in some parts of Accra beginning today, October 5, 2021.
The power cuts, according to the company, has become necessary to enable them to execute planned works within the Achimota – Mallam corridors for the decommissioning and replacement of existing lines with new higher-capacity conductors.
The exercise is expected to start from 5 October 2021 to 5 December 2021.
In a letter requesting the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) implementation of the move, GRIDCo indicated that it has become crucial “to transfer as much load as possible to Pokuase, Achimota, Accra East and Tema in order to limit loading at Mallam and Accra Central substations.”
The areas to be affected have been categorised into groups A, B and C.
Group A comprises, Adabraka Old Timers, Mamprobi, Chorkor, Agege, Lartebiokorshie, Valco Trust, Teachers Hall, among others.
